Housekeeping

Stuck in the house with all the heat, I've been doing a bit of housekeeping. The last window I had to clean was this one behind the couch. In order to get back there, I had to pull the couch forward.

I shouldn't have been surprised how dirty it was. Millie has been napping back there on really hot days, so I let the Roomba to do its thing.

I washed the window, and then washed the mini blind. I've now washed all but four of the mini blinds in the house. There are three I can't figure out how to take down without breaking something. I'll wait a bit, and try to get them when a friend of mine can tell me how to take them down properly. Once the blinds are clean, I hang them outside on the porch railing to dry, so I want to get them done before the weather gets too cool.

The House is Clean

I cleaned the house today.

And I mean CLEANED. I picked up and got rid of the clutter. I dusted. I cleaned all surfaces. I washed the kitty quilts that protect the furniture from Millie's fur (you can see one on the red chair above.) I cleared off all counters and have a big stack of paperwork to shred. I even cleaned out the refrigerator. The remote vacuum cleaners have been put through their paces. The laundry has been done and is now folded and put away. The sheets have been changed. The dishes are done. The litter box is clean. The groceries have been done. The car has been gassed up. The kitchen floor has been washed. I even replaced the shower curtain liner. (Yes, the bathrooms are sparkling also.) I cleaned all the mirrors. Oh yes, the bills are paid.

And why?

I am on vacation, and shall be enjoying myself.

So that means I won't be doing much sewing over the next few days, but I WILL be delivering this quilt..

Maybe I'll get some California beauty shots.

Clean House - for Real

All my bravado yesterday notwithstanding, the situation had reached "critical mess" and I just had to do some serious cleaning. The cold, the snow, the dark had all combined to make me feel very blah, so the house went to hell. No longer

The kitchen is clean (I'm running the dishwasher right now), my lunches for the week have been made, along with snacks and treats (homemade hummus and oatmeal cookies). The bathroom is clean. The office is clean and the bills have been paid (and the taxes done).

The dining room table is clear (Halleluiah!), the bedroom is clean, the laundry is done and folded and put away (no minor point at my house). I never make the bed on Sundays.

The living room is neat, the clutter is organized and I vacuumed the whole house.

I only vacuumed the studio, I didn't really do any big-time cleaning. I've got work to do.


*The weekend wasn't without any fun. I went to the movies and out to dinner with a pal yesterday and will celebrate my nephew's birthday later today.
