Another Gem!

This is another find from my boxes. When my son was in first grade and learning to read and write, they were asked to write something. The thinking was to get kids interested in reading and writing without worrying about grammar or spelling. So this comes from thirty six years ago. I thought it was fun then, and I still think so now. I have brought it to be framed, and will hang it in the office where I can see it from my desk.

Me too !! I still have the essay our grandson wrote after Hugh had a serious fall while out hunting. We had to visit the hospital, and it was a very long day as we went from room to room. He won first prize for the best writing. ( Dr said he had a partial tear in his upper quadriceps muscle above his knee) Ultrasound confirmed this. I need to find it and frame it.

What a wonderful find! It deserves to be framed and displayed :)

That could be the inspiration for a new quilt too. Hint, hint.

I have saved a few of Little Man's early writings (he writes like your son did here) and I keep meaning to frame at least one of them. Thanks for the reminder! (DH says it is so amazing teachers allowed/encourage early writing and spelling that looks/sounds like the words - his elementary teachers smacked kids on the hand for stuff like that).

That is so cute! I have been cleaning out old papers and have found some fun things my daughter made when she was in elementary school too. Such precious memories!

I have many cards, projects, drawings saved from my children too, such a joy to look back on all our treasures. I love how he's written in the outline of the butterfly.
