I'm OK

I got an email from a reader who wondered how I was and pointed out it had been 10 days since my last post.

I'm OK.

Had a bit of a fright this past week and ended up in Urgent Care getting an abdominal CAT scan. Naturally at my age I expected the worst. It wasn't but they want me to get a colonoscopy ASAP.

It was a lot to process and a scary brush with the concept of my own mortality has left me a bit shaken.

I did take a ride up to the best quilt shop ever, Quilted Threads, last week and chose some blues. I might make a Trip Around the World Quilt for my dining room table. Or a Boston Commons. I don't know. I'm still pretty scattered.

I've been trying to take care of myself, eating well and resting and reading. I think I've gone through three books this past week alone. And I'm intermittently binging and catching up on Masterpiece Mystery's Inspector Lewis, which I just loved the first time around, and love it equally much the second.

I also loaded up the car and made a trip to Goodwill and brought them a bunch of old dishes and my old Tupperware canisters, so I am slowly making progress back to the land of the living.

Thanks, Susan, for the gentle nudge.

Sorry to hear it has been such a hard time for you, Lynne. I hope your medical team is able to pinpoint the cause and address it so you are feeling well soon. Rest well and I hope you are ready to start happily creating again soon!

So sorry you had this scare, and I hope you will soon know what's going on inside your body. I think occasionally about how I have no idea what's happening inside me! Good luck, and we will all be thinking of you and sending good wishes. Those are beautiful fabrics. I actually thought that you had already cut the fabric and started sewing the wide strips together.

Sending purrs that nothing is truly amiss. Sometimes we need to take some time for ourselves.

Glad you went to QT . . . fondling fabric helps soothe the soul, especially when our bodies are out of sync. Also glad you got things checked out and have a better idea of what you aren't dealing with (why is that our minds (mine included) always go to the worst possible scenario?!?!!).

Wake up calls are no fun at all.
Take care of yourself and share what and when you wish. Just know there are a number of us who look forward to the creativity that you share so generously.

Oh dear! I hope this turns out nothing serious.

from your prior post - Now that you mention it, I haven't see much about selvedge quilts lately, maybe I'll stop saving them. Perhaps keep some of the prettier ones for small items like tool pouches or needle/pin book covers. Time to bag them up and find them a new home!

I am glad to see your post and I hope everything will turn out to be OK. I am always a little surprised at how much we care around people we only know through their posts.

Those blues will lift your heart, and a scare, then the reality is not easy at any age. Hoping the next test will allay any fears. Meantime, do whatever takes your fancy each day, and a good book, and beautiful fabric are a wonderful start.

I have had a couple of those big scares too and wondering how much time I had left. I hope everything checks out OK and that all it was is a scare.

Glad you posted and love the blues. Fabric is always a spirit lifter.

I've been watching your blog and hoping that there would be some pretty quilt stuff up soon. Sorry you've had a scare - it does take time to get back to normal. Seems like such messes with the thought processes. Take care!

I did wonder as you post pretty regularly. Sorry to hear they scared you. Chances are quite good that all will be ok, but as you age your mortality does become clearer. Hope to hear good news soon and to hear that you've begun creating with the blue fabrics.

QT is not a quick ride for me but I try to get there at least once ayear. It is a fascinating shop filled with many wonderful things. Have used much of my hauls very quickly while other shop finds have sat awhile.
Me too sorting through and clearing out to make the next season productive. Glad you are feeling better.
