Wednesday's Bird is a....

Wednesday's bird got preempted by a chair. I finally replaced it after putting up with my old broken one for at least a year or so. The other one was perfect in every way except from time to time and for no apparent reason or cause I could discern, it would suddenly start lowering itself and there I'd be, practically eye level with the tabletop, frustrated beyond belief.

I'd done some research online, but nothing can take the place of actually SITTING in a chair and feeling how it fits.

So Wednesday evening, after picking up my grocery order, I started into the lane that went home, but the lane that led to the big box office supply store was empty and I thought, what the hell, no time like the present.

So I drove over and parked and then sat in practically every office chair in the store. My requirements were these: mesh seat covers (much cooler), ability to remove the armrests, and that it felt OK.

Less than a half hour later the big box was in the back seat of my car. After dinner I put the sucker together. I need somebody with strong hands to loosen the big knob underneath so I can make the thing lean back, but otherwise it's good.

You know, those little things...

Looks great, all it needs is a " Bluebird" to perch on the back.

Enjoy the new non-sinking chair!

Although it was a pain to have a sinking chair, it makes a funny story. Congratulations on finding a new chair that works. I have two Ikea plastic rolling chairs that I never thought would work, but are incredibly comforatable- never would know looking at them, have to sit in them.

Chairs, shoes, jeans and wallets all need to be seen and tried before purchase!!

I had a chair that did that. I fixed it by taking out the lever that raises/lowers it. I did finally replace it as the fabric on the arms was looking pretty tatty. One thing I didn't know before I looked for ways to fix that chair - those mechanisms have a weight limit. That might play into the the price difference between seemingly identical chairs.

We'll not discuss how I was going to remark on the fabric design, until I realized it's a transparent mess. Time for more coffee.

Can you give us more information on the chair? It looks like something that would work for me!

A lot of those types of chairs have the same generic type 'legs'. I once had a favourite chair that would lower itself so I bought a cheap one and changed over the leg base :)

That is what I did when the office supply store had a sale. Love my chair.
