Backings

I ordered backing and binding fabrics for the  58 Carats quilt. I wasn't in any rush for it to arrive, so I didn't mind waiting for it.

I picked this for the back of the Blue and brown and white Slashed Squares quilt, Goose Rocks Beach.

The binding I chose is a light cream fabric with small squares on it in light brown, but it's hard to photograph.

This is the backing I chose for the Tutti Frutti quilt. I ordered it at the beginning of May from an online shop. In the confirmation email, they said they were overwhelmed with orders and my order would be processed in the order it was received, and I'd get free shipping. Fine by me. Two weeks later I received a notice that my order had been shipped. Two weeks later, it arrived. I was shipped from the Midwest, and I live in the Northeast. Two weeks to get halfway across the country? Good thing I wasn't in a hurry.

The Zebras tutorial is in its final stages. It might be ready in another week or so.

Beautiful backings. I ordered a bunch in March from a big company, got delay messages, then last week, got a backorder notice. I bought them with a gift card, so almost impossible to get a credit.

I have 2 packages in a sorting area in Los Angeles that have been there for five weeks and six weeks respectively. I ordered from a retailer who declared they were in stock and gave an in country address. They came from China or rather started from China pre quarantine.

BTW the post office volume has been near Christmas levels and the staff ramp up didn't happen. In large cities Amazon has increased the portion of packages it delivers, but that doesn't help USPS workers in other places. The major fabric retailer associated with Amazon had a hard time trying to figure out how to cut and package wile respecting social distancing guidelines. New normal problems.

They are all beautiful. I like seeing how you matched them with the fronts. I haven't ordered much lately but it's taking much longer to arrive. I just hope the people working at the distribution centers and post offices are able to be safe.
