Butterfly & Flowers

I knew I wanted to put a butterfly in the Colorado Quilt when a Monarch butterfly floated by my head one morning.

So here's my butterfly, a nod to the Monarch that flew by my head that day, and to Monarch Pass, which was nearby. (I actually have a tutorial for these butterflies too. It's on my Etsy shop.)

I've seen flowers like this all over the internet. I don't remember where I saw them, but I figured out how to make them on my own. It took all day to make six of them. (You all remember I don't use patterns, I just figure it out as I go.)

I'm just throwing stuff up on the wall here, not much is final. There are some pairs I like but nothing is carved in stone. I plan to make the quilt about a bird's width wider on each side and that means I need more birds and flowers. I won't commit to a layout until I have enough elements to begin assembling the flimsy.

For example, P&J have a mule named Blessed, a gray cat named Ruby and two dogs, Trixie and Rex. I haven't made birds for any of them yet.

I love the flowers! It's been great fun watching your bird flock grow via your inspiration photos. I'm wondering how you'll transition from the blue sky to the birds?

Looking fabulous. The addition of the flowers is perfect. I like the way all the different birds fit together colorwise. I wasn't thinking of that as I watched you choose each color set.

I am so happy that you made more flowers. you may think I am crazy, but the bottom row with all the birds facing the same way is very cool to me.

I don't think you're crazy. The birds in the bottom row are chickens. I like them all in a row. That's why they are there!

Thanks

This is looking really great so far! Maybe the other creatures would like to be flowers or butterflies instead of birds?
