Years ago Julie made me a mug rug, and I used it in front of the microwave oven. Since I have redecorated the kitchen, I wanted to make a new one. I have lots of scraps so I measured how big the new one should be, and made a big slab.
I cut a piece of quilt batting, a piece of fabric for backing, and then had some fun quilting it in wavy lines.
Then I added binding.
Here is the new mug rug in place, andI really like it.

I like it too, blues are one of my favourite colours, and it looks wonderful below the grey Toshiba.
Thanks for the good idea! While my microwave is above my stove, I can use this idea to make one for in front of my toaster oven. Belated Happy New Year!
It looks GREAT!!
love this one! I have made quite a few mug rugs but never one for in front of the microwave. How do you use it there? As if I need another reason to make more!
What a great idea! Great choice of fabrics and colors.
Gorgeous blues and a very handy idea.
Hi Lynne,
I followed your blog for a long time but last year it stopped coming to my email. I don't see a link to follow you again. How can I do that please. I love your work with color and you unending creativity.
