Binding Allegretto

I finally got the big worktable clean enough so I could start attaching the binding to the Allegretto quilt.

Regular readers know I attach my binding to the back of the quilt, and fold it over to the front.

I pin it down all around the quilt before I start handsewing. Now I can relax and "watch" TV with Millie curled up beside me while I hand sew the binding,

In other, more sobering news, my state leads the US in recent cases per capita. I'm supposed to be hosting Christmas dinner at my house, and I am seriously considering asking my family members to have a negative Covid test result before they can spend the day in my home. This may not go over well.

Have a calm evening stitching with Millie by your side. I do not blame you wanting people to do a test

A covid test is the best way to stay safe. At our home, every visitor is asked if they are double vaccinated, if not, " I do not need to apologise, but you cannot visit or come in" We have our own QR code printed and on the wall by the back door, everyone who comes in has to use the app on their phone to register their visit. I would stick to what you think is best for you, and if they don't want to have a test, they can stay home. Love your binding colours.

Luckily my family offered to have resrs but I decided it was not necessary. I read a lot of numbers and since I was boosted two weeks prior to our early. Thanksgiving came to the conclusion that it is as good as it is going to get. I was fortunate and didn't get it but the lump of fear in my throat all weekend was real. BTW my SIL spend 2 days of his life and lots of money doing home tests which said he was positive and then a PCR which said he was negative. It was a stressful ti e and totally un necessary. There is no magic answer. Research until you are comfortable and hope all goes well.

I love the binding fabric that you chose for this quilt. Such beautiful bold colors! About family being tested before coming to your house, this is not too much to ask. As we get older, we need to be firm and careful in making decisions about our health and protecting it. We need to be able to advocate for what we need and for others to respect our decisions. Good luck!

Your house, your rules. If it were me I'd cancel & have a picnic next summer instead!

Yeah, Whisker-consin is #4 right now. Mum only hangs out with vaccinated people, doesn't go out much and when she does she had got a mask on. Shops early when the stores are quiet or does drive up/curbside etc.

I like the, your house, your rules.

I empathize with "your house, your rules," but I'd never be able to say it to my own family (which includes some anti-vaxxers (I know!)) Maybe asking everyone to quarantine from now until Christmas would go over better? I hope you work it out. Meanwhile, the binding for Allegretto is gorgeous. It's a great finish for a fabulous quilt. Happy binding!

Lynne, if it helps, from a practical and real time sense, my nephew who is an ER doctor (central IL) says the people who are sick enough from Covid to be admitted are those who have not been vaccinated. We have a lot of Covid in our area right now. Those who are vaccinated and then get it are just getting influenza like symptoms. Yes, there are exceptions, likely due to being immunocompromised, but nothing is zero risk. And if you are vaccinated and then get natural infection, you have longer lasting immunity than the vaccination alone, so win/win. :) Those who are unvaccinated....their choice unfortunately.
I am an RN and have found 2 doctors from Stanford University who have podcasts and give apolitical and fact/science based information. And are funny as a bonus! If anyone is interested: ZdoggMD on Facebook and other platforms, and VPZD podcast on any platform.
I love your quilts and can't wait to see your bird quilt.
