I took them off and immediately I could see this was better. But I felt that now the boxes were too far apart.
This is probably what it looked like yesterday. But if I want this to be a couch quilt that will cover me when I take a nap on the couch, it needs to be a bit wider.
Which means I need to add another vertical row and make more boxes.

I am so glad you chose no cornerstones and one more row of "boxes", That means one more randomly placed bird, right?. I am hoping to get my quilt done in time for next Christmas, (or Valentines day ?) After all, chocolates come in boxes too, right?
Having followed the link and made some of these blocks, I think they may well be addictive.. Be careful

I love the way you think your way through your quilts. The cornerstones spoil the quilt in my mind. Sometimes I think pattern designers add things to make a quilt a specific size versus an element that actually adds to the design. Always happy to see your cheerful birds interspersed.
I agree, no cornerstones. They are major interruptis rather than enhancing.

Have you thought about adding a few of the skinny boxes? You showed one that was narrower and taller but how about narrow and same height as the other boxes. I too agree with the no cornerstones decision and the rows closer together. I love the way the big prints look on your boxes. I looked through my stash of Christmas fabrics and have a plethora of small prints. Time to let my fingers do the shopping. LOL!
LOVE the quilt without cornerstones & one row bigger -- the cornerstones take away from the rest of the quilt, and its a lovely one. Especially love the birds! Deb E
Do the boxes have to be in symmetrical rows/columns? Why not 6 boxes on one row and 5 on the next with a bird, etc. Just a thought - really like this quilt and as always, enjoy your process.

I like this quilt so much, and very much like the way you have interpreted it. I've bought the pattern with the idea of making one for my D-I-L for Christmas 2021. Come to think of it, I have TWO D-I-Ls and there will be plenty of fabric in my FQs to make each of them one. I don't like the cornerstones either; I think they detract from the boxes. But I think I like the squares that go around the outside. I THINK.

Thank you for this quilt, it's SO much fun to watch the changes you make!! It's so enjoyable to see the different Christmas fabrics and how you choose to "present" them. (hahaha, did you see that pun coming?)

LOVE your quilt - I am in the 'no cornerstones' as the total focus should be on the festive packages and cute birds. Wider would be even better but it will be a challenge with the narrow design wall! Mine is even smaller, but I make it work. Have a happy Thanksgiving! Deb E
