I added the borders to the Tutti Frutti quilt.
It was more than just a little aggravating to press the first side down and then realize I had not taken the seam allowance into account when I sewed the top two strips together. Argh. But I wasn't going to take it apart.
In the end, the only way to handle the corners that made any sense at all was to miter them.
In each corner, a colored block met a light block.
It looks like it flows together from one side to the next, and that's good, because it works and it isn't tricky, and the corners don't draw attention to themselves.
So here it is, the completed Tutti Frutti quilt top. It measures 63-1/2" x 80". It's a lovely, bright, happy quilt for kids, a family room or for use in the summer.
It'll also look terrific across the back of my charcoal gray couch!

Looks terrific! It's one of those that makes you smile whenever you look at it. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome finish!!!!!
Oh, that outer border makes it look 3D! Mitering was a great choice. Another great finish.
It looks like an optical illusion. Really cool.

Oh this one is so much fun! Love the way the border worked out and the name you picked for it... Thanks for sharing
The corners remind me of a perspective exercise where all the lines come out from the middle. The whole quilt is striking.
Love it! :)
I love this bright quilt. Good work Lynne.
What a marvelous quilt! Mitering the corners was a great idea, the border looks like it stands out from the quilt, a really nice effect. Congratulations on your finish.
I love this "optical illusion burst of happiness, colour and energy" quilt!
