So what was in the birthday bags?
A pasta maker,
and a collapsible pasta drying rack.
My son and I FaceTimed while I made the pasta dough, and ran it through the machine. I had had a pot of water boiling, so I was able to cook (and eat) some as soon as I made it.
Best. Birthday. Present. Ever.

Awesome! You will have a lot of fun with those
Wowza!
Could you tell the difference between freshly home made and store bought?

Wow this is an amazing present.
Looks terrific. I had to give my pasta maker away as my husband is celiac. Gluten free flour will not stick together to go through the machine. I bet it was delicious.
Amazing gift!!! What a great son and DIL. Fun and practical!!
Wow, that is a wonderful birthday present. I always wanted to try this, but now thinking about doing it soon. Thanks for sharing. Have a great rest of your week.

Totally cool -- have lots of fun with your new toys! (and I am NOT showing this to Larry - he keeps wanting to make home made pasta - I did it when the kids were little and swore it off as too much work - but he's retired now so maybe I'll relent.
WOW! The pasta looks great and we bet it was so delicious.
Way more taste than the stuff in a package ;)
