It's a quilt Julie made in 2016 but quilted earlier this year, Stacked Squares. I was so surprised. I love it. (We all know how much I love black-and-white.)
I thought it was particularly appropriate to show Julie what I was wearing the day I opened the box (yes, black and white stacked squares.)
Not surprisingly, it looks right at home on my charcoal gray couch.
THANK YOU JULIE!

Happy birthday! What a great present! It looks great on your sofa but I'll bet it looks even better on your lap this winter.
HB enjoy your new quilt!
Birthday Greetings. The colours with the black and white are so lovely, and on your couch, perfect setting to show it off .What a great gift.
It's so lovely, you two are good to each other.
I love that you love the quilt and I'm elated with how grand it looks on your couch. Has Millie given it her QA assessment yet?
the quilt looks great and what a perfect place for it on the couch.
I love the pattern for that quilt. I did some googling but the name seems to appear differently different places and there aren’t any links to buy the pattern. Would Julie be willing to share where we can find the pattern? She did a wonderful job and it does look nice on your gray sofa. I have a gray sofa too and I think I could make one that would look nice on my sofa! :)
Happy birthday. What a wonderful present from Julie.
What a wonderful present! I saw this on her blog a while back and admired it from afar... and it looks great on your couch, too. Millie will undoubtedly think it complements her perfectly (which it does).
For those who have asked about the pattern -- I found it in a friend's 2015 magazine. It is now available for $4.99 as a PDF download ( from The Quilting Company (see link below). Designer is Brenda Ratliff - Pattern name is Bento Box. NOTE: I did not follow the directions explicitly -- I made scrappy fabric and used it for the centers where the designer used Teal. To each maker their own choices!! https://www.quiltingcompany.com/store/bento-box-quilt-pattern
Thanks so much for the link to the quilt pattern. Both versions are beautiful. I see so many possibilities for this pattern. Thank you for the inspiration and the follow up to connect us with the pattern!
We so enjoyed seeing your quilts in St. Louis. Thanks for lending them to Julie! Happy belated birthday!
