Blue What?

Blue Danube, Blue Rodeo, Blue Diamond, Blue Book. I know this quilt needs a title, but Blue Diamonds is a brand of nuts so that's out. I have to think of something. Actually all I have to do is pick something.

Anyway.

I liked the layout of the giant diamonds, so I started filling in with the medium sized diamonds.

But then I wondered if it was too light, so I added some purple and darker green medium sized diamonds.

Blue Monday, Blue Deco, Blue Rose.

As soon as I got across the room, I realized the purple ones were too dark. So those went.

Blue Moon, Blue Boy, Blue Velvet.

When I went back across the room, I didn't like the green ones either. So those went out too.

Blue Eyes, Blue Christmas, Blue Dahlia.

Now I have to make some four patch diamonds. MOST of them will be blue and green, but I may need others, so I have cut strips of yellow, orange and pink. (Because if I have too many of the same color diamonds in a row, it just looks too dark.)

Blue Valentine, Blue Jasmine, Blue Lagoon.

I have gotten this far, but I have more four patch diamonds to make, so this is it for now. And yes, this is what happens when you do nothing all day but sit in your air-conditioned studio, "watch" tennis (Wimbledon) and sew.

This quilt is going to be really pretty.

Blue Laughter, Blue Smiles, Blue Joy (sounds like the name of a laundry detergent), Blue Dreams.

Oh Lynn, gorgeous as ever already! Rhapsody in Blue, Blue Belle

You have such a wonderful sense of how colors work together. Such a great gift for an artist!

I like the Selvage Fairy's suggestion, and blues are among my fav colours, any shade or hues.

Anything as long as it's not blue movie, in spite of all the moving around the room you've been doing!

On a serious note: I think Blue Diamonds is appropriate.

I immediately thought of Blue Skies? As in "blue skies, smiling at me, nothing but blue skies do I see". https://www.bing.com/search?q=blue+skies+smiling+at+me&form=IE11TR&src=IE11TR&pc=EUPP_LCJB. Blue is such a happy color. I love your quilt and all the others too. It's very helpful to have you show us your creative process as you decide what works and what doesn't and why. thanks.

I'm with you, I think the quilt is going to really pretty too. I'm sure you will also name it well.

Blue Jasmine suggests an exotic feel -haven't done any checking to see if there are reasons not to go that route. Maybe just "Summertime" without calling out the dominant color (blue) is another option.

Blue Bayou. Or as mum says as she speeds by people. Blew by you!

I am leaning to Blue being the first word. I liked Sewgirl’s Rhapsody in Blue as I am a Gershwin fan. So right now Blue Rhapsody has the inside track.

Beautiful is right! It reminds me of sun hitting water and sparkling in a creek. Just lovely.

Summer waltz. Looks summery, will be a great "I need some warm feel in the middle of winter" quilt.

As soon as I started reading this post I had Linda Ronstadt's version of Blue Bayou running through my head! Can't wait to see how this turns out. Thank you for sharing the process!

Thank you for sharing your thought process in deciding what stays and what goes, it is so helpful to a scrappy quilt maker so this post is a keeper for me as a training tool for when I can't figure why I'm not happy with the layout.
There are many good suggestions for a quilt name, so let me add my two-cents worth to the list ~ Sew the Blue Aegean Sea, but whatever you decide on it's going to be a pretty quilt.

Rhapsody in Blue or Summertime Blues - either of those get my vote, not that you're asking! It is beautiful so far and will be even more beautiful, I'm sure, when you have all the pieces in place. Blue being my favorite color certainly makes me partial to this one.

Whatever you name it, it’s going to be gorgeous! And who says “Blue” has to be the first word in the title? It could be Diamonds Blue (or Bleu). Having said that, however, I really like the suggestion of Rhapsody in Blue, because it describes not only the color, but it’s effect on us!

Love is blue. And I love all your diamond quilts.

Tranquility Blue? Because in spite of all the big prints, it looks very peaceful already-- especially good if its going on your bed!

Or what about "Blue-tiful?"

I'm So Blue Over You (from Leann Rimes' early hit, Blue), Blue Hawaii (with all those flowers). Sea Glass, listed above, sure seems to fit.
