This bird is based on a real budgerigar named Jay who lives with his people in Australia. Jay is very tame, very interactive with his people and has learned to speak. He wants a golf ball for Christmas.
Really.

When I was a child we had one who liked to land on the model aircraft carrier my brother built that sat on our mantle. I never knew birds enough of a brain to have a sense of humor.
It is absolutely sensational Lynne. Jay's mother is going to be thrilled when she sees it. (I've sent her an email with a link to this post.)
I can't write a story about Jay because he's a real bird, so his mother will have to tell his story. I hope she tells us what Jay is going to do with his golf ball if Santa actually leaves him one. Seems to me that quite a lot of havoc could be wreaked by a bird with a ball!

Now a real bird, he is superb. Love that swirly black and white.
Well done, Lynne.
I know Jay personally and he really is a dear little bird. Let's see how his MOM relates to "her" birdie being on a world wide blog!

I think if Jay wants a golf ball he should get one. It probably weighs more than him, anyway. :D Lovely little bird here, Lynne.
