Kitchen Floor, Finally!

I'm embarrassed to say how long I have waited to get this project done. Some time ago a leak caused water damage on my kitchen floor and I'd been so angry about it I ignored it. Well finally I found someone reliable to do the work, and I figured out what I wanted, and got the project going. There were a few fits and starts along the way, but it is finally finished.

I elected to go with a hard plank floor. It's not hardwood, but it is waterproof and scratch resistant. I love it.

The flooring extended down a short corridor and then into the hallway to the side entrance, where my washer and dryer live. I knew I wanted the new flooring to go there too.

Just before I made the final deal, I decided to pull up the rug in the dining room and put the new flooring there as well. I also extended it to the short hallway to the guest bathroom and my office. That decision doubled the scope of the project, but I'm glad I did it. It's hard to keep carpeting under a table clean, and the one that was there was beige, 30 years old, and dirty.

Of course now that the floor is so fabulous, the walls look dingy, so I am having them repainted in a few week's time.

I was heading home on my morning walk yesterday when I looked up and saw this deer. It served as a reminder that no matter how annoying life can be, there is still a lot of magic to be had.

Your flooring looks wonderful and new paint will make everything fresh and clean looking. Your picture of the deer and your sentiment are so true. Wondering how your mom is doing.

Great floors! Congrats on making the move. We had our entire home done just 2y ago. We've been here since 1991 ;-)

AMEN - happy you saw that deer. I know they can be pests in neighborhoods (there is one here with a herd of close to 100) but they are so cool to see when you aren't expecting them. LOVE your new floor - congrats on getting it done!!!!!
