I cut some of the triangles the full ruler size and set them up on my design wall. The big diamonds were so big, I'd only have had four rows of them. I decided to make them smaller by about a third. You can see the new size at the upper right.
I put a piece of blue painter's tape near the 8" line of the ruler. This was where I decided to cut the fabric.
This made the finished rectangle 3-3/4" x 7-1/2".
And I'll say it again. This was not a scrap quilt.

Great it sounds like you had a productive week! You had ana amazing collection of fabrics design, nice to see. I also had a fabrics store where I had kept beautiful collection of different types of fabrics. You can visit our store at Broadwayfabrics.com
It’s amazing what a difference shortening the triangle by 1 1/2” makes in the finished diamond shapes. Totally changes the look and feel of the quilt. I love the name :)
Size and scale are such an important design element. Some people pick big so they can get done fasters. Some people pick tiny and make a huge quilt that dilutes the pieces. It is a balancing act. You did great.
Thank you for posting the recipe” for your pink quilt! The rectangle ruler will be very helpful for cutting accuracy. I’m looking forward to making this quilt…
That ruler is on my Amazon wish list . . . one of these days.
I love this.
What a great ruler. Love all the pinks that are in your pink projects.
I've done the same thing with a ruler. I used a Dresden plate ruler to cut tumblers. Large tumblers from one end, and thimble sized tumblers from the other.
