Small Steps

I rearranged the border strips and I think it will work. Clearly I will have to tinker a bit. It doesn't look like much, but what you don't see is I cleaned a bit in the studio so it isn't so cluttered and I have room to move around and work.

I keep going back and forth though, between a border going in one direction, and a more "traditional" styled border with the angled bits meeting each other at the middle of each side.

In other words, which one do I like best? Top or bottom? Which do you like best?

Border #2. Nice job with this one!

IF you decide to go with border #1, you might want to have the sides make that traditional direction switch in the middle also. I think #2 looks great...a border that supports but doesn't call attention to itself. This quilt is very dynamic--love it!

The top one - I like a 'voting' comment challenge :)

I like the top one. It draws attention to the center points.

The TOP one!!
The traditional sides allow the eye to travel down the quilt, enjoying the colors and shapes and images, then at the bottom the angled join sets the eye off again, circling round the quilt for another happy viewing.
I also like how the corners meet just any old whichaway, it keeps the quilt moving, sort of says the quilter wanted to capture the viewer in real time.
That's my reaction.

I had a little feeling of it is her quilt and she's happy before with this border but now with your tinkering I love it. I should've known you could and would make it amazing.

I like the top/bottom borders in the first photo but the color arrangement on the two long sides in the second photo. Keep tinkering!! You'll make it magical - you always do.

I like #2 but I see Julie likes #1 so perhaps I'm off base ;-)

The border in the bottom picture frames the large triangles, seems to smooth out all the points. The border in top picture clashes with the center, feels out of synch almost. At least, that's how it feels to me.

bottom. by far. and the small WOW border that you're going to add on the inside (?) will look good, too. the skinny colored borders don't quite set off your fabulous work the way they should...

your borders give your quilt soooo much depth. Makes it look like a fancy decorated box or sheet cake. Thick enough to slice and serve. Nice.

I like the bottom one, but would like it better if the stripes all went up to the right like the sides, and not up to the left like the top and bottom.

I like the bottom one because the top and bottom borders on the top one seem too staid, too traditional, too predictable for this quilt.

the bottom. The matchy matchy looks forced and attracts attention.

Whatever YOU decide, it will still be a wonderful unique quilt!
