When I made the big triangles for
Oh So Modern Tutti Frutti quilt, I cut one WOF strip of light fabric, and one of dark. I was able to make ONE big triangle, but I had big chunks left over. You would think I could have gotten TWO triangles, but nope, it doesn't work that way. So I had a lot of stuff left over and I felt a little guilty about it.
After making the top, I thought I could use some of the leftovers to make strips for binding or a border, so I set up a little jig.
I lined up the long edge on the wide template, placed a 3" wide template over it, and cut.
Then I removed the extra bits, and sewed them together randomly in one long strip. Now, these triangles face two directions, and I only sewed one set together. How much did I have?
This many.
So that was fun. I think I'll sew the ones the go in the other direction together and then see how I can improve this. I do think the quilt needs a little cream between the quilt ant any other border. I don't know if I want these little bits as a border or a binding.
It's fun to have options.

That's a great option to have! That added border strip is kinda magical. And, yes, a tiny set-off sashing would be great. This one is fun to see come together!

I vote for as a border
As soon as you added the border, fruit striped gum popped into my head and I’m not even a gum chewer. Love the bright colors.
