Dairy Cream

A few days ago I was talking to my Mother. Since I have been using quilts on my table, she has been covering her table with the Sunburst Rainbow quilt I made for her a few years ago.  "It's time I got a new quilt for my table. I saw a nice one on your blog a few days ago. Can I have it?"

Which one, I asked?

She said she'd look at the blog and let me know.  A few days later I got my reply.

"I really like the pink one."

"Yeah, No. Not happening. You and six million other people. Nope, nada, no way. Not getting it. That quilt is mine."

"So make me one."

(Sound effect of Lynne banging her head on the desk.)

I love my Mother, and I know she's the only one I'm ever going to get, and I know she's in her mid-80's and won't be around forever.

So when I went into the studio this morning and started to clear the pink explosion, I put the rejected pink diamonds up on the design wall.

Then I started cutting diamonds from fabric I found in my stash.

A couple of hours later I had this.

We'll see where it goes, but I'm pretty sure this will end up at my Mom's house.

Good on you Lynne. I miss my mum every day and would pile her high with quilts if I could.

I'm with Poppy Q -My mom 's Alzheimer's kept her from ever knowing I started making quilts. I made 2 small ones for her wheelchair and she told everyone in the nursing home that she made them (she sewed fir many mnay years but never quilted). So YES - make your mom a pink quilt!!

Yeah, you know she would pick that pink one. But now you will have the fun of creating another pinkish one for her.

looks like your mom is getting a basket of flowers for Mother's Day.

At least your mother likes your quilts. Mine just asks when I'm going to get into something more interesting than quilting. At least she likes the quilt I made for their 50th anniversary.

I love your diamond quilts.

You're sucha good daughter! Your mom will love her quilt, and think of you every time she sees it. (My mother died before I started quilting, and I'd so have loved to make her a quilt. Maybe I'll make her one now, a micro-mini quilt to go under her micro-mini urn!)
