Birds of January

I love teaching students how to make birds.  This group is from last Saturday's class at Quilted Threads in Henniker NH.

It's such a delight to see the happy faces when the ladies complete their first birds.

.
Much thought was given to the size and angle of the beak, the proper breast width, and the length of legs.

The ladies were so happy to make birds based on loved ones. Granddaughters, significant others and sisters were all represented. It's always fun to see how everything turns out.

You too can make birds.  You don't need a pattern, you don't need a template. They aren't paper pieced. You can use your scraps and you can make your own unique birds with tons of personality. You can get a copy of my tutorial here, at my Etsy shop. It's an instant download (don't click away from Etsy until you download it), so you can get started right away.

Do it! If you are in the fence, jump over. If I had to make birds, you should too............

Love all these. They are just perfect.

I just finished my fourth bird. I found Dome pictures on Pinterest and as I love birds, I knew I had to sew some. And it is a lot of fun! Thanks for this imspiration and for sharing instructions on your lovely blog! Susanne (Germany)
