Scraps Sorted

It took two nights to sort out the scraps into these neat piles. This is an awful lot of fabric. There are bits here from the Black and White Slashed Squares, the Rose Deco quilt, the first baby quilt I made for my granddaughter, Blue Topaz, and the reds of Peppermint Candy.

This is what the stack looked like before I got started. I'm going to have to make some "slab" blocks with these. It's just not worth stuffing them back in the bins. Maybe if I do one block each evening, I'll have a quilt before you know it. It can be a break from all the hand sewing I have to do.

Hmm. Must ponder. (I think I shall go over and get some ideas from my pal Julie. She does some fun stuff with scraps...)

One thing that doesn't need pondering is that I much prefer NOT to have a big pile of fabric bits anywhere in the sewing studio.

Slabs are good and they're fun to generate. If you have black and whites (or other scraps) that you are just "over" or tired of, you know where they'll find a good home (grin).

Good for you getting these sorted. I can't even imagine sorting mine. I must have six or 7 bins of scraps! I have used some of them in the past. I went gathered blues and made blocks for baby zig zag quilts. I ended up with several hundred blocks which were turned into quilts, but it didn't even look like I put a dent in my scraps! I will be looking forward to seeing what you make with yours!
