Last Saturday, as soon as I discovered I had a granddaughter, I thought, "I'm going to make a Pink quilt." I thought it would calm me down.

Alas, no. I was so wound up in the events, and then busy with the texts, emails and telephone conversations over the weekend I never got close to the studio. Plus, I didn't know what kind of quilt to make. Finally, an idea came to me Sunday night. I would do a pink version of Blue Deco.

Finally last night I pulled out my pink scrap bins and sorted, pressed and cut my selections into 2-1/2" wide strips.

Then I pulled fabrics for the accent squares.  I think this will be very pretty. I'd like to have the flimsy finished before my trip to the City of Angels next week to meet my little girl. But there's a lot of other things I have to do between now and then, so we'll see.  I'm not worried.

Baby Girl (still working on a blog nickname for her) was released from the NICU yesterday, and both baby and Mom were released from the hospital last night.

You'll enjoy the text my son sent yesterday:
"We may be coming home today. We may not want to be coming home today."

I found this photo waiting for me when I woke up this morning. So they are home. One chapter ends, another begins.

Congratulations on becoming Grandma. You will be a fabulous Grandma. Best Wishes to all of you.

Will you give details of how to construct the "Blue Deco" as you make the pink version?

A friend of mine has called her grandson LB (for little boy) since he was born. LG might be a good blog name!!

The best thing ever, being a Grandmother. Also, love the Blue Deco quilt. I make lots of scrappy quilts. Did you use a pattern or just an idea? If a pattern, what is the name?

Great that everyone went home safely! She's such a little beauty that clearly her blog nickname should be Aphrodite or something like it. Venus? Pretty pinks for her quilt, too.

If I am reading the Blue Deco photo right, it is three strips, turned, with some of three strips made from smaller squares? It will look great in pink! Congratulations that they could bring her home. I called my grandchildren "Mr. E" and "Miss J" for the longest time as I thought it was funny for babies. Once they walked, I gave it up.

How wonderful!!! Congratulations to you and your son and his family!!! Isn't it awesome to realize that you have just entered into this whole different persona of yourself? A new chapter, a new start, a new love, a new life.... It's magical and amazing and occasionally a little bit scary too :). There are quite a few things that I've done for my grandchildren that I would never have done for anyone else, including myself - like quitting smoking. One look into my first granddaughter's innocent blue eyes looking up at mine and knowing that she depended on me being there for her throughout her life, and I put those things down without even a whimper. Ahhh - the joys you have in store!
