I got home from work and didn't like the way the layout looked. The birds were too lined up into what looked like rows, so I moved a lot of things around, and I really like this a lot better than yesterday's layout.
I knew it would be tricky to sew together, so I printed it out and tried to work out how to sew it together. The boxes scribbled in gray are the extra WOW pieces I need to add, and the dark lines are the blocks I will construct. Then I'll sew it together. Somehow. Of course, there will be minor changes and adjustments

Smashing new setting!
Looks wonderful Lynne - how clever you are!! Oh and we LOVE birds.
Oh, yes! This is just going to be so much fun.
Great process illustration ...
Years ago, when I had no idea how difficult it would be, I designed a setting that involved those kinds of set in extra blocks. I struggled SO much with it, but in the end it was worth it. I shall send you a photo of it.
i am worried about those two hanging by their toes...are they Australian birds from the other side of the world>
oh boy... I love to watch you build and create!!!! Such a creative and problem solving mind . (Even if you are the one to create the problem).
They are indeed Ina world of their own. Hugging and kissing in spite of everything else around them.
By Jove! I think you've got it! That layout is very appealing to my eye. I spent last week at a quilt retreat where I shared pictures of some of your birds with a friend--who then demanded to see how you build your birds. Your blog proved very easy to locate your Tutorials link. There will be birds hatching out soon in Oklahoma. Thank you for sharing.
I like building puzzle quilts as you've chosen to do with some of my block swap projects. Very much worth the effort in the end.
Looking forward to your Wow fabric surprises.
I love the new layout. Thanks for sharing your process as I was wondering how you would be able to put it all together.
FEVVERS!!! ::butt wiggle, butt wiggle, POUNCE::
Lynne, will you be publishing a pattern for these critters? If not is it ok If I try one? I love it, such fun and love birds. Thanks.
So adorable and cheery!
