This and That

I haven't been sewing, but I haven't exactly been a slug, either. I am painting this four panel folding screen to use in the studio.  I'll use it to block the sun from hitting my fabric stash. I'll be making the curtains for it later. You'll see.

I've paired up the purple and orange fabrics for my nephew's quilt.
and I'll use this layout:

Yes Megan, this will certainly be a fluorescent-ly bright quilt, but hey, that's what

this guy (my nephew) asked for.

I also paid the bills and made four loaves of English Muffin bread.

My granddaughter loves red and purple... drives her dad to distraction.
Your nephew looks a bit like Harry Potter. Can't wait to see more of his magical quilt.

The quilt going to look great. I made a Fractured quilt last year in purple and yellow and though it would be hideous. It turned out so good that I made another quilt for myself with all of the leftovers.

That should be a really fun quilt. I checked out your muffin bread. I would love to make something like that but never have much luck with yeast breads. :(

Hello, Lynne. I followed the making of your Black Box quilt avidly and wished I could see it in person. Imagine my happiness when I discovered it on display at AQS Quilt Week Albuquerque! It truly is a magnificent work of art and precision and I wanted to buttonhole everyone who walked past to say, "LOOK AT THIS!"

Anyway, thanks for entering the show so I could see your quilt.

Instead of making curtains for your screen, perhaps you could cover lightweight foam board with quilt blocks and attach them to the frame? Or double-sided quilts?

As I was scrolling down the post, and came to the pic of the fabrics for your nephew's quilt, I (again!) thought "Phew - that's going to be a very bright quilt!" So I giggled when I saw your note to me below the next pic. Bright is good - most of my quilts have been bright.

The colors are spellbinding; speaking of which, your cute nephew bears resemblance to Harry P. I guess he hears that all the time.

You might want to look into using sunblock fabric for your screen.
