A Blast From The Past

Way back when, before I started making quilts, I did embroidery and then I got into needlepoint and later, into Bargello.

This is about an eight inch section of a piece I made in college. Here's the whole thing.

I originally made this to be the seat of a carved side chair, but I parted with the chair years ago. This has been kept in a drawer for close to thirty-five years.

Question is, what do I do with it? I can't seem to just toss it in the trash. Here's another needlepoint piece I made at that time. This was an original pattern I designed.

I agree that it shouldn't just be tossed in the trash. Perhaps surf the net to find a smaller project that you could use it for - perhaps a cushion front? And I think the sun design deserves framing.

yes, definitely don't' throw them away! how about a pillow? especially for the bargello piece. maybe with a funky, modern YOU pieced back? and the sun piece would def. be awesome framed. megan is right!

I agree - frame that very-stylish sun as wall art and make a fabulous throw pillow with the former seat cushion ...unless it is large enough to create two small ones . Very cool find!

I made some pillows from chair cushions that my Mom needlepointed years ago. I could see both of these used in tote bags too.

Millie pillow? Maybe leave it at the new house so it can smell like it, and then bring it back for her to start getting used to the new smells?

The sun would look lovely in a nursery. I'm just saying.

I can sure relate to this! I have needlepoint that I started for cushions for a sofa that has been gone for years. I would definitely frame that sun. It is terrific. The other? Maybe a bag or a small cushion.

Needlepoint in my past as well. Still have an unfinished blue and white dragon I started probably 40 years ago! I think you're sun would be great to submit for the Sunday Morning show!

I agree--the bargello would make a great pillow or cushion. And the sun deserves a frame. Isn't it funny how everything old becomes new again?

Your original design -those curves! -the stitching! Fabulous!

I'm just adding another "yes!" to the above suggestions. These pieces deserve to be used, on display, liberated from the storage box!
