I loved the colors but once the top was finished, I was less than impressed with the finished piece. I got it ready to send to the longarm quilter, but never did it. I showed it to my son, who was equally ambivalent about it. Actually, he was quite specific. He didn't like it at all. So after we talked about it, I decided to get right to it and implement his suggestion.
Oh! Better already!
Oh yeah! Much better!

You are right - much better.
Well - yes, now it looks like much better. More unified !
Who knew doing that kind of surgery on your quilt would reveal a total change.. Love it. Proves less is sometime more,,
Oh, I liked the dashes - maybe if you had used them as a first border too.
Sorry to see them go.
In fact I have a quilt top that is just blah (how does that happen??) and thinking dashes in a border just might be the ticket.
Funny how the elaborate sashings made it look dowdy, and without them it's modern and vibrant. So many modern quilts now are made without sashing or borders, allowing the fabrics and design to fill the eye. Still, when a design gets especially busy, I like a simple, wide border all around.
Glad you listened to that "it just is NOT right" voice . . . MUCH better!
Mrs B if you like the sashes so much, I will be happy to send them to you.
