Do you know what I found most amazing at my class on Saturday?
That the staff at Quilted Threads have been asked repeatedly if there is a pattern for the Four Seasons quilt.
"There is no pattern," the staff would say to the customer, "but she's giving a class, she'll teach you how to do it yourself!"
Nope, they wanted a pattern.
Which is too bad. Thirteen ladies had a great time learning how to make their own houses, and I have no doubts they will make their own house quilts, and they'll be much happier with their own versions.
Which reminds me of something else I kept hearing the students say to each other on Saturday, when they needed a bit of help or encouragement. "There aren't any rules," they'd say gleefully.
"Wing it!"

Lynne, is there a "Wing It" quilt in your future? :)
I laughed at your post today, Lynne, because Gwen and Freddy joked about the same thing. People wanted to know if there was a kit for one of their collaborative quilts. So they would joke when they created a new one, saying, "We should kit this one up."
Can you come to Sacramento and teach a "Wing it!" house class? Oh please please please!!
Are the houses in your quilt as large as the ones your students are holding up in the last post? I'd always imagined them as being much smaller.

What a great post. Is there a pattern? Hysterical giggles on this side of The Pond.
yeah, patterns. bleah. woohoo, for all the wingers!
Lynne - I'm someone who would much much prefer to learn a new skill by reading rather than attending a training course or workshop, so I can quite understand the requests for a pattern.
As got Gwen and Freddie - haven't they seen the kits you can buy these days to make your own Gee's Bend-style quilt - pattern and fabric supplied?
It takes all kinds and I think that's great.
