This is the wall in my dining room where my quilt "Letters From Home" hangs. While the quilt is away on a "working vacation" the wall is empty, and ugly. I've lived in this apartment almost 26 years, and it's in an old building. Many years ago I covered the wallpaper with the cheapest thing I could find, burlap. You can see the fake flock wallpaper through the little hole where a smoke detector once was.
You can also see the outline of the wallpaper underneath. Before I hung the quilt on this wall, a piece of artwork hung there, and you can see its outline too. I'll hang "The Quick Brown Fox" on this wall when it's finished, but that will not be for a couple of months.
I hate big blank walls. I asked myself what could I do to improve its look. Covering it up was the obvious solution, but with what?It didn't take me long to figure out a solution! So last night I stapled up some white flannel. It looks better, and I can use it as a design wall.
The brown fox is jumping on the wall today. It's a good place to store the components while it is in work, and it's a great way for me to study it.
(I haven't done any more work on the fox. I had to clean the house, do the groceries and the laundry. You all know how it is.)

Excellent use of a blank wall. Have you thought of having your fox jump up rather than down for a more cheerful look? I thought of it because I read somewhere that John Deere changed their deer from jumping down to up. He is looking very foxy.
That's a very good suggestion, Joyce. I'll work it out when I actually add the fox to the quilt.
Love the fox...and your new design wall.
Lynne, I love your idea to use it as a design wall. I also want to thank you for Millie's blog. I read her blog everyday she posts, in fact her's is the first one I read. Either you are getting better at catching Millie with the camera or Millie has adjusted...you've gotten some great pictures of her. Have a great time on your trip to your god son's christening.
yes, like that suggestion of Joyce's too. great option to have a design wall there!
He is a very pretty fox, and I'm so pleased he's come together. :)
