I've added the binding to my Exquisite quilt. I sew the binding on the front using a blindstitch. Because I have arthritis in my right hand, I can only sew about 30" a day. It will take me a few sessions to finish.
I've read many blogs where quilters do their handsewing on the back of the quilt. I was giving a quilting demo many years ago and an older lady examined my quilts thoroughly. She asked where did I handsew the bindings, on the front or the back? I replied that I did it on the back so nobody could see my stitches.
"Well," she said, "I can't see any stitches anywhere."
Ever since then I have been doing the stitching on the front.

I do my bindings just the opposite -- the handsewing is in the back.
Love the fabric you chose for your binding! Interesting approach to binding. I have never heard of it on the front, but it looks great. I totally understand about being able to only do a little binding each day, but persistence pays off.
30" a day seems a lot to me who finds hand sewing such a challenge! It may take several seesions and days to get the whole binding down, but we make quilts because we enjoy the process not just the end project :-)

Sorry to hear about your pain I have also pain from my job so I do understand but I have been lucky I started wearing copper braclets and it helps me.
Absolutely gorgeous workmanship. So sorry that arthritis is an interference, but what with your finished products, your patience & painstaking efforts to create are worth a million accolades.

I find it very interesting that you do your binding on the front...
My stitches are seldom seen - but, I always have problems with the mitered corners...and they seem to look worse on the front - so - maybe I could try doing my bindings like you do...

What perfect fabric you picked for your exquisite quilt (perfect name for the quilt too). It's funny that you mentioned that you sew your binding down on the front side. My grandmother and mother both sewed binding down on the front side of their quilts too - their hand sewing skills were much more advanced than mine though:)
