It was pretty clear the only thing to do was to move the little scrap bins. But where? Both of these bookshelves were stuffed too.
But when I looked more closely at this one, I realized the shelves were full of old music CD's.
So I cleared the bookshelf and everything on it, and piled the CD's in a big bin.
Then I dusted and washed the bookshelf, adjusted the shelves...
and moved the little bins over.
All the mugs that had stored things like pens, tools, notepads and other stuff were dusty, so I put them all in the dishwasher and ran it. This is the stuff that was in the cups and on the shelves.
Then I consolidated all my extra business cards and notebooks, and arranged things on the bottom shelf. Those things were mostly on the bottom shelf before I cleaned it off.
After the dishwasher had finished its cycle (btw, the best piece of cleaning advice I ever saw is this: If it fits, put it in the dishwasher) I put all the pins, pushpins, measuring tapes, lint cleaners, pencils, pens, tools and other doodads back in their places. It all looked great, until I looked over at the other bookshelf.
Sigh.
So OF COURSE I had to clean and reorganize that one too.

This looks So Much Better, and now I have another shelf in the stash for fabric, so instead of sewing, which I am not interested in doing right now anyway, I can finish putting away the fabric that's all over hell.

What a good day's work! Looks super and you gained an extra shelf in the process. Way to go!
Looks good and does Miss Millie have her own bizzness cards?
Wow - you got a lot done in a short period of time! Looks wonderful, and makes me feel like its time for me to go through my multiple shelf units and reorganize and clean, too. Love your blog! Deb E/CA

Your studio looks so neat now! Great work! As to the dishwasher, my husband's aunt says, "Everything can go in the dishwasher; some things may not last as long, though."
WOW Such inspiration...Come on by any time. I live in Charlotte..ha! With 50 year of hoarded and loved fabric...OMG Good job you did.
What a great job. You give me hope -- perhaps mine is not beyond redemption. A friend has just discarded a batch of plastic boxes so I will try to get scraps, projects and colors in some order.
Looks great! I also ditched a ton of CDs in our last move. I believe this means that I've now purchased some albums in four (or maybe five) different formats. Ah, well.
It's such a great feeling to clean up and organize like that -- it looks wonderful!
What a difference! Worth the time and effort. I need to do a major cleanup, but have two quilts that need to be finished first. Oh and then there's a new baby that needs a quilt, and then .... Oh well, I'll get to it someday.

Looks so neat and you can see what is where,"doodads" that is a neat saying.
I know that it is exhausting doing pick up work. Every fabric is a decision. The results are amazing and you must feel inspired. Congratulations on a hard job well done.
Do I spy not one but two traveling Millie’s?? I was saying just last night my sewing room is out of control......so thanks for you pictures.....they are providing encouragement !!
Looks great! I wonder where did you hide your CD's? My last mini cleaning everything that didn't go back, I boxed up for my sister...pretty sure she is still thanking me with colorful words!
GOOD JOB!
