A Present for Me
I bought myself a Christmas present, and I gave it to myself early.
It's a robotic vacuum cleaner. I know that this isn't going to replace a heavy-duty deep cleaning vacuuming job, but I'm so busy I could use help keeping house looking neat. If this can keep the house looking good from day to day, I'll be happy.
I had to see what it could do, so I set it up, let it charge, then told it to get going. Millie does not like it. I hope she'll get used to it, because I have set it to vacuum every morning at 9 AM.
It seemed to go around haphazardly, but when it headed back to the charging station after about half an hour, I figured it was full. (Since I knew it was coming, I had deliberately let the house get a bit messy.) When I took the little canister out I was surprised at how full it was. I think this little sucker (pun most definitely intended) has found a permanent home.

Wowza! How good is that? I'll be interested to hear what you think of it after you've been using it for, say, a month.
Perhaps Millie is jealous!

Ohhhh! I have two roombas. We thought we lost the one in the flood so we bought another. But my priorities must have kicked in because it stayed high and dry. When we unpacked we had two! No problem, I love my “guys”. They work daily to keep the hair of three Basset’s and all my fabric strings and snips up off the floor!
I need one. But am sure our two cats would be so stunned to see something moving round their home!!
I look forward to seeing how well it works for you. Is it noisy?
I've never had the vacuum but a few years ago I ran out and bought the version that is supposed to mop your floors. THAT was a real bust and I should have known better. I do think the vacuums have a lot more merit and I'm sure they've improved over the years. I'm waiting to see a picture of Millie riding it. :-)
Darcy and Connor dobnot like the Roomba at their house. Darcy barks at it and Connor goes to the far side of the downstairs to get away from it. All in good time.
I thought my husband was nuts when he ordered one last year right after we finished remodeling the house. My daughter in law and I had just done days of deep cleaning, and I knew this place was clean when the roomba showed up. I was amazed how much powdery dirt it picked up--the stuff the broom and regular vac miss, that gets in the air, becomes more dust on the furniture. Then we bought another one for the other end of the house. I like that they can get under the furniture. We call them Dobie and Gillis.
Oh, lucky you! What a great present to give yourself. Perhaps Millie will learn to like it if it gets warm in the charging station and she can curl up with it.
Does it avoid cat toys that might be on the floor? I don't want to lose my toys!
We just bought one a few weeks ago, and I am sold! The cat is wary of it, and the visiting dog barks at it, but I am so pleased!
just one more thing off the list!
I've had this on my Christmas list for years to no avail-I'm sharing your post with my family! Lucky you!
