I think this is it. I'll start sewing it up this weekend. I'm very happy.
This quilt is for an 18 year old girl who'll be graduating from high school in June. I wanted something fresh, vibrant, youthful and colorful. This quilt scores on all points and, as I looked at on the design wall a phrase came to my mind...
"This isn't your grandmother's quilt."
It sure isn't!
By the way... Every. Single. Fabric. in this quilt came from my stash. I didn't buy anything, although a quilt like this will surely need a backing every bit as avant-garde.
I love the way your large diamonds showcase beautiful (not to be cut too small) fabrics, and the dark diamonds lift it up , in a way I hadn't thought dark would. Superb. Will you add a border or just bind it?
ReplyDeletefantastic quilt. impressive stash.

ReplyDeleteWow! I was just at Des Moines AQS and saw your quilt. I was enticed by some Kaffe fabric, Wow, I think this may be a suggestion for them! I picked them up because I had a little thought in my subconscious that I could form, I think this is the thought! Thanks for the inspiration. Pet Millie for me. I know she wouldn't let me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a real beauty - reminds me of a Spring garden! The mix of different sized diamonds looks so good.
