I think it's that they have multiple "parts" and they are more complex. The B, E and S all are 5 "lines" high. The F and R are also very closely related.
Horizontal lines finished with a vertical line? S has a vertical blue with a white section. My other guess was 3 sections - top, bottom, and ending with a vertical strip.
They all have two or more horizontal lines?
