This is a bird quilt I made for my mother. Some of the birds are based on members of our family.
I thought it would be fun to see if I could make a bird quilt with a variety of different backgrounds. Here they are all green. It takes a bit of careful fabric selection, but as you can see it is possible.
I call this quilt "Yakkety Yak." It has birds of different sizes. Some are adult birds, some are kids. I imagine this as an after school pick up, and I wanted the little birds interrupting conversations and generally running around having fun.

I made this quilt, Spring of Teal, as a sample quilt I use when I teach. There are average birds, fatter birds, taller bird, casual birds and very fussy cut birds.
This is the Colorado Quilt, made for my brother who lives there. I made birds based on the things I saw when I visited him there one year. He built his barn, so I interpreted that in fabric and added it to the quilt as well.

This is the quilt that started the bird making craze. It is Flight of Fancy, and many of the birds are inspired by people in my life - family members, friends and coworkers.
