Fifty-Eight Carats

 

The Fifty-Eight Carats quilt is finished. It is named because there are 58 unique prints in the quilt. Each is used only once. It is not meant to be a colorwash quilt. I do not want the colors to blend into one another. I want you to see the edges of the diamonds that appear and disappear. One of the fabrics is from 1984. Most are from 2007-2019. I took me about ten days to design. It wasn't easy. There was a lot of grumbling. There are 58 fabrics in this, but I'm pretty sure I went through at least 100 to find the ones that worked.

Thought you'd enjoy seeing the quilt in real space, so you can get a good idea of how big it really is.

    Apologies if this has been answered before - what are you using to hold up the quilt in these photos? I SO need something to hold quilts to photograph them. Places I have that I could hang the quilt have issues - ugly messy background, bad lighting, can't get far enough away to capture the whole quilt, or there's nothing to hang the quilt from or drape over. I'm NOT going to drape them over the barb wire fences, which are too short anyway!

    Gorgeous quilt! I also like the lack of grass in favor of other plants in your front yard.

    Lynne, this is spectacular. how i wish i could follow you around for a few quilts, just soaking in your process, each one draws me in to see this detail and then that detail, ilove them. thank you for sharing
