SLU's (Sheer Love Units)

We all tell ourselves that we make quilts because it keeps us busy, that it gives us a creative outlet.

We like playing with color.

We like to explore repeating designs.

We like exploring differences in scale and pattern.

Sometimes we like to experiment with a limited color range.

Sometimes we like to create something totally new.

Yeah, that's why we make quilts.

Lies. All lies.
We REALLY make quilts for the Sheer Love Units they generate. You can see SLU's in each of these pictures.  I'm telling you, SLU's make all the difference.  They transform an ordinary combination of fabric, batting and thread into something magical.

Sheer Love Units.  SLU's.  A new quilt term I believe deserves wide acceptance.  Go ahead, steal it!

  2. Love it. It's perfect to describe why we make things. I'll use it for my crocheting.

Adorable baby there, too bad he's a wild caveboy these days. (Who still loves the dickens out of his quilt!)

  3. I couldn't agree more . . . wish you could have overheard the conversation that took place in the office hallway yesterday (between two quilt recipients and yours truly - your SLU concept was shared LOUD and CLEAR!)

That's really the best part, isn't it? Seeing someone we love using and loving something we've made with love for them!

  10. SLU = MAW squared
    Mega Awesome Wattage squared
    And also occasionally rectangled
Measure MAW by the SMILE factor

    You can't beat quantum quilting!
