Almost

It's almost finished, but not quite. I have about 30" to sew on the right side, and I still have to add the hanging sleeve to the back.  It is quite handsome, if I do say so myself. It's amazing how much better it looks without all the extra batting hanging out. It's also nice to see choices I made for the inner border, outer border and binding were the right ones.

I'll be bringing it over to my Mom's before I go to work today, and picking it up later.

    Lovely!! It's amazing how blocks that look great by themselves are sewn together and not look so hot but when the edges are trimmed and the binding is finished, it becomes gorgeous!! I think beginners need to know that - they become disheartened when they don't like their quilt in the middle stages. Anxious to see the black hat/box again.

    I completely agree about the transformation that takes place when the excess batting/backing are trimmed way ... I love that moment.

    (Have you thought about stitching the upper edge of the sleeve in place when you attach the binding? Saves one width of hand stitching...)

    That thin purple border is an amazing touch. Exactly the right amount of pop without screaming "Look at me!"

    It is a magical transformation when it becomes a quilt instead of a project. It's my favorite part of quilting!

    This is looking so great! I was surprised, at first, at the size of the quilt, but then thought about how free-piecing is always bigger than I think it will be. It's those little photos on the computer that makes me think they're small, I guess!
