Birds, Birds, Birds at QT on Saturday

I love teaching the birds class. It was a full class at Quilted Threads on Saturday, and all the ladies had fun, and some terrific birds were made. Here are some.

Usually I tell my students to build a bird based on someone they know or love, but this class, I told them to go outside at lunchtime and take ten photographs with their cell phones, then they were to build birds based on the color stories in their photos. The idea came from the way I am building birds for my P & J's Colorado Quilt.  Here are two examples.

The ladies did a great job and I had a grand time.

I love teaching, but it is exhausting. I'm too tired to think much, and certainly too tired to cook. After the class, I packed my things, loaded up the car and drove straight to the local Mexican joint, where I feasted on fish tacos.

Everybody who takes my class gets a copy of my tutorial, Lynne's Liberated Birds. If you'd like a copy, visit my Etsy store, here. It's an instant download so you can get started right away.

I so love your birds, and seeing the students work is always fun. I have your tutorial and am taking it with me to a retreat next month. Hope to get a lot of birds done while there :-)

I love all the student's work. I love seeing tidbits of the quilt in the background that has birds at the bottom and butterflies above. I hope to come some day to take your class.

I think the purple bird and the inspirational alliums are gorgeous (and yes, the alliums do have an odor about them).
