Supermarket Roses

I'm preparing for a class at Quilted Threads, so there's not much sewing going on around here this week.  I was at the local Fresh Market and saw roses for sale, 10 for 10 dollars. I don't usually buy flowers at the grocery store, but these looked really good, so I bought some. I was glad I had a large vase.

 They've really held up well.

They are enormous. It's been lovely to have them in the house.

Such a beautiful color, too. Are you an avid gardener? Have you ever tried to propagate a rose bush out of a cut rose? I have an orange rose bush I started from a cut stem from Costco. Look on the stems for sprouts - those stems would be good candidates for the project. cut off the bottom inch or so. Poke the end into rooting compound and plant it into a bigger pot. Cut off the flower. (You can float that one in a sauce dish.) I kept mine outside in the shady spot on my patio in CA, but you probably need sunshiny spot in a window for a month or so yet.
Mine blooms and has for years now. Still in a pot because we are moving.
Hope this works for you.
Hugs
