G Whiz

The letter G is a good letter to fussy cut some decorative fabric.
The elements of the G start small. These pieces (red and cream) are both about 1-1/4" tall by about 1-3/4" wide.
Once sewn together, the strip was trimmed to 1-1/2" wide, and a red piece was added to the right side, and a cream strip was added to the left. MAKE SURE the first red block is on top, or you'll be making a backwards G!
Trim the top, and bottom, then sew a cream strip to the top, and a red strip to the bottom. Now add a red strip to the left side.
Add another red strip to the top, then trim to shape (but leave extra fabric on the top, bottom and left side.) Add a spacer strip to the right.
Voila! Here's another G. I made the word GROW, which appears on the cover of Tonya's book.
You'll have to consult Tonya's book, Word Play Quilts, for more detailed instructions.

I know the other day you said that you don't need to trim the joining bars on the right, but I guess I don't see why not. I must be missing something. Go figure!
